Description

Sushi-inspired rice balls filled with sweet potato and coated with black sesame for a healthy and easy lunch snack.

Ingredients

1 ½ cup cooked white rice

1 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tsp rice vinegar

1 nori sheet, crumbled

3 tbsp black sesame seeds

1 small sweet potato, cooked, cut into 1 inch cubes

Instructions

1. In a pan over medium heat, combine the rice with hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and nori.

2. On a saucer, pack 1–2 tablespoons of rice and make a small divot in the center.

3. Place sweet potato cube in the middle, cover with more rice, and shape into a firm ball.

4. Wet hands, press gently, and form tight rice balls.

5. Toast in a pan until golden on each side.

6. Roll each ball in sesame seeds.

7. Serve immediately with soy sauce.

Notes

Use sticky rice for best results.

For vegan versions, try miso glaze instead of hoisin sauce.

Pairs well with miso soup or seaweed salad.
