Description

Strawberry Heaven is a creamy layered strawberry dessert featuring angel food cake, whipped topping, cream cheese, and fresh strawberries coated in a sweet strawberry glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake
  • 1 (16-ounce) container Cool Whip, thawed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 (3-ounce) package strawberry Jell-O
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, strawberry Jell-O, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened and boiling.
  3. Allow the glaze to cool slightly.
  4. Fold sliced strawberries into the cooled glaze.
  5. Tear angel food cake into 1-inch pieces.
  6. Mix cake pieces with 2 cups Cool Whip.
  7. Press the cake mixture into a 9×13-inch glass baking dish.
  8. Beat softened cream cheese, remaining sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Fold in the remaining Cool Whip.
  10. Spread the cream mixture evenly over the cake layer.
  11. Spoon the strawberry mixture evenly over the cream layer.
  12. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours before serving.

Notes

  1. Use ripe, fragrant strawberries for the best flavor.
  2. Soften cream cheese at room temperature before mixing.
  3. Thaw Cool Whip overnight in the refrigerator for easier blending.
  4. Stir the glaze constantly while cooking to prevent lumps.
  5. Do not rush the chilling time because it helps the layers set.
  6. Frozen strawberries may be used after thawing, draining, and slicing.
