Description

A simple baked onion beef foil packet dinner with tender beef, potatoes, and savory onions, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds thinly sliced beef steak (sirloin or round)
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 pounds baby potatoes, halved
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons steak seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Nonstick cooking spray (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet with foil
  2. Slice onions and potatoes evenly and pat beef dry
  3. Toss onions and potatoes with olive oil, seasoning, salt, and pepper
  4. Divide mixture onto foil sheets and top with sliced beef
  5. Seal foil packets tightly, leaving space for steam circulation
  6. Place packets on baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes
  7. Check potatoes for tenderness and cook longer if needed
  8. Let rest for a few minutes before serving and pour juices over top

Notes

  2. Swap olive oil with butter for richer flavor
  3. Try different seasonings like taco or Italian blends
  4. Prep packets ahead and refrigerate for easy cooking later
