2 cups warm water (110°F / 45°C)

1/2 cup white sugar

1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/4 cup vegetable oil

7. Punch down dough and knead briefly.

8. Divide dough into two loaves and place in greased loaf pans.

9. Let rise for 30 minutes.

10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–40 minutes.

11. Cool slightly, brush with butter, and serve.

Notes

Both bread flour and all-purpose flour work well.

Brush with butter after baking for softer crust.
